I can download photos in the usual way and see them in the organiser but when I try to edit then save, all I can see in the organiser is a grey box with an image of a torn photo in it.

Adobe say the first version with Windows 10 support is PSE 14; 15 works fine. The last update for PSE 9 was over 6 years ago so safe to say it is unsupported, Adobe usually stop updates for old versions as soon as the new one is released.

Having a quick search has shown some people have got PSE 9 to work in windows 10 by using Compatibility Mode. You can have a go by right clicking on the shortcut you use and clicking on Properties and the Compatibility Tab and trying the various settings. HermitIbis Well-known member. The software worked for a long time until one particular W10 upgrade. Against that I am running in normal mode, a copy of Painshop Pro 9 perfectly happily dating back to The last version before Corel changed things – that version of PSP can rapidly do a number of things that are at the least ponderous to achieve in other software.

I do have the latest version for things that 13 year old software is not so good at! The good news is that none of my computers are compatible with Cortana! The bad news is that Skype seems to share Cortanas audio drivers so yet another previously reliable bit of software bites the dust.

It seems that even if your computers were compatible with the first version of Windows 10 that happy state doesn’t always last. I do have several modern photo editing sw packages that do work fine, including Affinity and PSP, unfortunately Adobe and I parted company some years back and I havn’t run even Lightroom for ages so don’t know if their software would like my computing environment still or not.

Can someone help either with an information but, preferable with a solution to make it work well? Are the ‘Tools’ in Elements shown in a long strip down the left side as Photoshop.. Click or just hold the cursor on the arrowhead and see if a box of such as FOUR options pops out for that particular box.. Windows 10 install does affect some apps, VirtualCD 10, for one, that have to be fixed after each new Windows 10 build.

I have Elements 11 in my wife’s laptop and Elements 12 in my own laptop. Both laptops are less than 2 years old; and a fairly high end Lenovos. I installed Windows 10 in both laptops, whereupon the Elements programs in both laptops stopped working properly.

Neither would allow the “Editor” function to even load or work, at all. I have since removed Windows 10 from both; and reverted back to Windows 7 in both.

Everything works fine, once again. I am hoping that, one day, Microsoft will fix this issue. No, I didn’t try the compatibility mode. Actually, I’m not sure it was available when I first downloaded. I did try all the forums for about a month after the download. No one seemed to have an answer to this, other than to tell me that it was working fine on there setup. Additionally, my son has a business that troubleshoots computer and software issues He has been doing this for about 15 years. He messed with it for quite some time.

Ultimately, he couldn’t make it work, either. So, I removed it; and went back to Win 7. It immediately worked perfectly. I really don’t see a reason to try Win 10 again.

If I ever convince myself it is worth it, I will try the compatibility mode. Is your son aware of compatibility mode? I run 8 year old software written for XP using this method. I have no idea. About a two years ago, he decided to open his own business.

At the time, he was having several clients who could not get Win 10 to work on their systems. So, I assume he was pretty up on it at that time. As an aside, I even contacted Microsoft, trying to get an answer.

I engaged in a 45 minute on-line chat with some guy who, frankly, knew less than I do and, I don’t know a lot. Perhaps waiting until the very end of the free period before you upgrade is a way to go. I have not had any issues that I could not resolve after upgrading a couple dozen machines. Perhaps contacting Adobe before you upgrade might be the way to go. Or seeing if their customer service can help. He would like to come back to windows 7, but it already passed about three monds since the upload.
