Yeah, it’s kinda pricey but what you get is worth it. This book teaches you about Affinity through projects. If you’re already familiar with PS then going through this book should be straightforward I feel it’s worth it. Book is great A must have book for Affinity users if you’re someone who learns better in print.

Unfortunately, the hardbound format of the book, severely hampers using the book along with Affinity. Why any publisher would bind a workbook as a hardbound book is puzzling.

It is nearly impossible to use your computer and follow along with the book. The book will not stay open unless something very heavy is placed on the page which in itself becomes an awkward task in itself. I followed the advice of someone’s Amazon comment to have the book spiral bound at Staples. Staples would not even consider it because the binding is too thick: Very frustrating.

As asserted by the title, Affinity has provided a workbook for learning how to use the Affinity Photo editing app. Think of the workbook as a very useful supplement to Affinity’s excellent video tutorials available on Vimeo and built into the mobil app. Following introductory chapters that introduce the software, readers are provided straightforward instruction on how to improve photographs through editing. The book offers a range of problem-solving projects.

Projects build upon prior projects. This book is as amazing at the application. I would suggest this book more for the novice to photo editing or someone who is booting PS for Affinity. Can’t say enough. I’ve been an editor since Adobe Photoshop 2.

Switched to Affinity Photo for the iPad pro fall and now with my new iMac. I actually feel like a magician and still learning. Affinity plans on going head-to-head with Adobe Photoshop with Affinity Photo. The app is a fixed-cost alternative to Photoshop, with many modern features, and a 21st century interface. But it is not “photoshop lite” or any sort of “me too” software. So how to step up to using this new tool? Besides guiding the user through the many powerful aspects of this tool, the book also serves as a “how the heck do I do x?

This book is the only game in town just now, and luckily it is well written and to the point. Start at the beginning and work your way through, or jump to what you need. Either way works. Highly recommend this book for those new to Affinity Photo.

Originally I mistakenly thought this was a manual to cover the detail of the software. It is not that is covered to a large extent in the software help menu. It is a few and I have to say stunning examples of projects that use the software.

It shows what can be done in a nice and real book nice to have and to hold one of those nowadays! I do not think I nor a majority of users of the software will ever come close to being able to achieve a lot of what is covered, but looking at what can be done by experts might at least inspire us to do something more than we would do otherwise. I am a big fan of the software as on even the autocorrect feature I really can see improvements in my photographs and that is good enough for me.

I know that there is a lot more that can be done and it will surely inspire me to try one rainy evening when I am at a loose end or wanting to review those pictures outside on a nice day!

If you have the software you should have this book and it is a book and not done in any electronic format, and Amazon is a book company well originally anyway!

What people say and the basic idea of this book is all just a little decieving. What I mean is that this is a workbook, yes, and it has exercises set up in the style of a self-taught course. But, this has left many people with the impression that this is not a reference type book. I am someone who has struggled with adult ADHD, so I am accustomed to taking materials apart and putting them back together in a way to alter the flow of a course to work for me.

For me, this is a book I have to first memorize what lessons it has, so that I can return and do a single lesson to help with a specific project I have. This is what efficient learning means to me.

Rather than read through this book or work through it and forget the skills when I need them most often leading me to do the complete excercise all over. So, I have no trouble using this as a source material, rather than a read-once-and-done sort of thing. I was thinking I would give this to my buddy when I was done, but once I got it and started exploring it, I realized how excercises could also be reference material and I want to keep this in my library now.

Everybody learns different, but this has been my experience. With my approach I just go ahead and use my own project materials adapted to fit the excercise steps. Some people don’t like that this book is not digital, but for me graphics are a tangible thing. In the digital word I am only ever working to reflect the real word. I like having a book to touch to remind me how the history of graphics pretty much starts at the printing press.

Get this book! This book was a great way to get to know the program. Each lesson built on the ones before. It’s definitely helped me use Affinity Photo daily instead of Photoshop.

Firstly i would like to say it is quality hard covered book printed on quality paper. It is unusual in that there are multiple highly experienced photo editing authors The book appears to be extremely well structured and answers most of the questions I have about the program.

The descriptions of the editing tools, and how to use them are very clear. I especially like the multiple projects in the book that show you how to use the tools with real life images. The images for the projects are downloadable from the Web.

The program is not simple having many of the features of Photoshop and I can certainly recommend the book to kickstart getting the best from Affinity Photo.
