Hence I cannot enter any commands. I am sorry to say this is an useless answer and what the academics and researchers I am one of them!

This is an hardware problem at the root and your suggestions talk of software solutions for which there is no path to go. The one solution that worked for me is to switch off the system and start again and not try to solve the issue with rebooting. First it refused to come out of full sleep no display ; I rebooted and find the system going into windows update.

Then it came to the sign on page but no mouse. My BT KB worked the numbers only but not the up, down, right, left arrow keys that I wanted to start the system in safe mode and I signed on but then the system got stuck with a message about my VPN. At this point, my KB control key had known problem I was going to work on it soon and this OS issue popped up!

I panicked and tried rebooting a couple of times, adding wired keyboard and mouse, with no effect. Then I told myself I am going to finish my breakfast I was double tasking or try to and think.

Then I realized it needs a clean boot and it worked like a charm, at least for me. Most of the folks at MS have become so called software experts with zero knowledge on hardware and when it comes to answers, spew some vaporware :.

Please do not give me a fix that requires me to enter or click something. MY keyboard and mouse is not responding after update. I use this computer for work and now cannot use at all. I am able to type in chrome search box and surprisingly here also, but I’m not able to type in apps; amazon, menards, facebook, etc.

On my laptop, the mouse pad function issues as my PC and the laptop had a new Chrome program installed on the 8th also. I’m thinking it may be a Chrome issue since their was a new Chrome installed in the Programs and Features folder of the Settings. Best option in such case to enable onscreen keyboard and log into the computer, access device manager and remove and add standard keyboard. Will fix the issue. I saw this issue in my own laptop today. I managed to fix it.

Since other people have reported similar issue with other model of laptop bit hard to say is the update causing issue across the board.

It is not possible to try any solutions without at least a mouse. Do you have another spare keyboard and mouse to connect to the PC? Repeat step for mouse driver. I hope this helps. Can you tell me how am i to get to the device manager without said mouse or keyboard. That is why in my initial question I stated if clicking or typing is required do not waste your time responding as i cannot use a keyboard or mouse.

Anyway, I posted an at least a doable trouble shooting that worked for me. My Dell laptop was working perfectly before the Feb. When I went to provide my PIN to start up again the keyboard would not respond. I was able to use the touch screen and tried to resolve the problem but no luck.

Have used Dell Support Assist and updated all drivers. I have restarted and done a total shutdown. I have made sure my laptop is not in tablet mode. Now I am stymied as to what to try next.

Feb 13, I have the same problem as above. Need a fix!! Dell computer – only has Serial mouse and keyboard. Can’t do anything without these so same as above – cannot get onto my pc to try anything. This site in other languages x.
